Intercel Group

Energy Storage

Senior Sales Engineer

At Intercel, you’ll be working on the battery solutions of the future. In this role, you’ll be at the heart of our storage department, where engineering, development and business converge. You’ll translate customer requirements into smart and safe energy storage systems, thereby shaping the technical direction of our product portfolio. Do you want to make an impact in a fast-growing, innovative environment? Then this is your next step.

At Intercel, you’ll be working in a dynamic company with a strong technical focus. We build high-quality battery solutions for a sustainable future. Intercel Group has two sites in the Netherlands and several across Europe. Our innovative custom division works on solutions for energy storage and the electrification of mobile applications. As a Senior Sales Engineer within Intercel’s Storage division, you bring the experience and seniority to further develop and professionalise the department’s technical foundation. You are primarily responsible for providing technical support to the sales team on both standard and complex energy storage projects. You translate customer needs into concrete and feasible solutions, and present these in SLDs. You know how to integrate our products into a customer’s broader ‘energy management’ system, and are familiar with integrations at various voltage levels and grid connections.

You act as a technical sparring partner for account managers and clients and play a key role in the successful development and winning of projects. You oversee the entire system and are able to translate technical complexity into clear and commercially strong solutions.
As we are currently building our organisation, you will contribute to establishing a scalable technical foundation by improving and standardising processes, documentation and propositions. You will incorporate insights from the market and projects and consult with Business Development and R&D, proposing structural improvements.

In addition to your primary role in sales engineering, you will, where necessary, take responsibility for product development and innovation. You will initiate and oversee improvements and innovations to the product portfolio, acting as a linchpin between various stakeholders such as customers, sales, engineering and operations. You know how to engage and involve internal and external parties, and communicate progress and action points.
You identify trends, monitor technical developments and feed back everything you hear in the market to the organisation. In this way, you contribute daily to smart, future-proof energy solutions and to the growth of our product portfolio.

In your role:

• You act as the primary technical point of contact for account managers, customers (installers and EPC contractors) and suppliers.
• You liaise with customers regarding technical specifications and discuss technical issues, applying sound commercial judgement;
• You are able to draw up Single Line Diagrams (SLDs) and ensure the technical accuracy of designs and system architectures;
• You carry out calculations for installers at the customer’s site, taking into account legislation and regulations, specifications and the customer’s requirements;
• You understand the various customer needs and technical context and translate these into integrated system solutions, including the sizing of capacity and power, voltage levels such as 400V, 690V, 800V AC – 36kV, and integration with transformers;
• You support and lead the technical aspects of tender processes, including RFIs, RFPs and quotations, and ensure technical compliance and a distinctive positioning of the solution;
• You have sufficient knowledge of relevant standards and regulations, including NEN, IEC, EU directives, Data Security, GDPR (GDPR, NIS2) and requirements of network operators and PGS, and liaise where necessary with certification bodies, safety regions, environmental services, etc.;
• You improve documentation such as templates and calculation models;
• You map out technical customer requirements using a structured roadmap;
• Deliver internal training to colleagues and product demonstrations to customers;
• Initiate and lead product innovations and improvement projects, taking ownership of progress, content and implementation.

What do we offer?

  • A full-time role; if you’d prefer to work 4 or 4.5 days a week, we’re happy to discuss the options;
  • A competitive salary of between €4,000 and €5,500 (gross per month based on a full-time working week);
  •  Attractive fringe benefits, including 24 days’ holiday + 5 days’ additional leave, a good pension scheme and a company electric car.
  • Opportunities for career progression within your role and department; we’d love to lay the foundations for the future together;
  • A catered lunch every day, weekly boot camp and padel sessions, Friday get-togethers to round off the week, and festive team and company outings;
  • And, of course, the opportunity to contribute to the energy transition every single day!

Who are you?

  • You have completed a technical degree (HBO/university), preferably in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, energy engineering, etc.;

  • For this role, you have 5 years’ experience in a technical role, preferably in EPC or the installation sector;

  • Have you previously worked with products in the energy or technical sector, such as solar systems, batteries or climate control solutions? If so, this role is a perfect fit;

  • You are customer-focused, a strong communicator and possess excellent advisory skills;

  • You can easily translate complex technical information into understandable solutions for customers;

  • You have a good command of both Dutch and English, both spoken and written;

  • You work independently and proactively, with a pragmatic and customer-focused approach.
